The short version. The tools here run right in your browser. What you type never reaches us, and we never see it. We use a few cookies to keep things working and to count visits, and Google may use cookies where ads appear. You can switch the optional ones off whenever you want. That's really it — but everything below spells it out properly.

This covers romanceforcouples.com and every page on it. We've tried to write it the way we'd explain it to a friend, because a privacy policy you can't understand isn't much use to anyone. If something here still isn't clear, email us and we'll happily explain it.

Romance for Couples is published by Joan Ramos, trading as FriendlyApps — a small independent operation building free web tools and reference sites. Everything here is written and looked after by us, not farmed out.

What you type stays on your device

This is the part people usually want to know first, so let's get it out of the way. The tools on Romance for Couples run entirely in your own browser. Whatever you type in, and any picture you add, never reaches our servers. It lives on your device and it's gone when you close the page, unless you save or print it yourself.

We don't have a copy. We couldn't look yours up if we wanted to.

Some tools do remember your last settings, just so the page is friendlier when you come back. That sits in your own browser, not with us, and clearing your browser data wipes it.

You're entitled to know exactly who can receive data when you open a page here, so here's the full list rather than a vague mention of "our partners". Each one has its own privacy policy, linked below.

If that list ever changes, this page changes with it.

How your cookie choice is recorded

When you answer the cookie bar, your choice is saved in your own browser and kept for 180 days, after which we'll ask again. It isn't tied to your name or sent anywhere. You can change or withdraw it at any time using the button further up this page, and withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was.

What we never do

If you're in the UK or Europe

You have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent for any cookie that isn't necessary. Honestly, we hold so little that the answer is usually "there's nothing to hand over" — but ask, and we'll tell you straight. For analytics and advertising cookies we rely on your consent. For simply keeping the site running and secure we rely on our legitimate interest in operating it. If you're ever unhappy with how we've handled a request, you can complain to your national data protection authority.

If you're in California

You have the right to know what personal information gets collected, to ask for it to be deleted, and to opt out of it being sold or shared. We don't sell personal information. To opt out of personalized ads, use Google Ads Settings (linked above) or the cookie choices button. And we won't treat you any differently for asking.

Children

This site is made for a general audience and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it right away.

How long we keep things

Analytics totals stick around for up to 14 months and then drop off by themselves. Emails you send us are kept only as long as it takes to sort out whatever you wrote about. And since what you type into a tool never reaches us, there's nothing there to keep in the first place.

Security and other sites

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Because the tools run in your browser, there's very little data here to protect to begin with. When we link somewhere else, that site has its own privacy policy, and what happens over there isn't something we can control.

Changes to this policy

If any of this changes, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Anything significant, we'll flag on the site rather than hoping you notice.
